Why Everyone’s Talking About AI And What It Means for Artists Like Me

It’s impossible to scroll through social media or read the news lately without hearing about AI. Whether it’s ChatGPT, Google writing essays or MidJourney painting digital masterpieces, the world seems both amazed and alarmed.

And here I am an artist, a clay molder, a storyteller, a thinker watching the rise of this new “creator.”

So what does it mean for someone like me? For artists like me, it’s not just a technical marvel and it’s an emotional journey into what it means to be human.

Art That Feels, Not Just Generates

AI can mimic styles, create stunning visuals, and even write poetic lines. But there’s something it can’t quite do: feel.

When I draw, or write, I’m not just producing content. I’m processing emotions, experiences, memory. I’m connecting dots between pain and beauty, chaos and peace. And I think that’s what separates art from automation.

AI might be an extraordinary tool, but can it truly understand heartbreak? Can it dream with reckless abandon? Can it leave a mark that whispers, “I was here”?

Can it dream?

The Tool, Not the Threat

Still, I don’t fear AI. In fact, I see it as a tool where the one that can help us dream bigger. I’ve played with AI art generators, seen what they create from a few prompts. And while it’s impressive, it also reminds me why human-made art hits differently.

For short, one is precise, the other is alive. With my clay arts? One is clean. Mine is hand made and with personal touch.

What I Choose to Focus On - Choosing Creativity Over Competition

As someone who is in the field of arts, I don’t need to “compete” with AI. I just need to keep being honest, strange, wild, curious. Keep creating from a place no algorithm can reach.

Because what I make isn’t just output.

It’s a fingerprint. Every piece I craft carries a fingerprint, a personal story, a unique hand made. That’s something no algorithm can replicate. So, while the world marvels at what AI can generate, I choose to focus on creating from the depths of my humanity. Because my art isn’t just output, it’s emotion. It’s connection. It’s proof that I felt something, and I left it behind for others to discover.

Let’s be clear: AI is not a threat to artists.

It’s not here to replace us. It’s here to challenge us, inspire us, and if we let it; help us grow.

I don’t fear AI. In fact, I see it as a creative companion. One that can help us brainstorm, visualize, experiment, or explore new ideas faster than ever. It’s a brush, not a brain. A prompt, not a poet.

We are the soul. AI is just part of the canvas now.
